Our services are delivered in a variety of ways:
Through k9 connection, Pets’ Landing is dedicated to ensuring that people and their pets receive the care, support, and resources they need to thrive together. We rely on supporters and community partners to help us think outside the box, complement existing resources, establish trust, walk-the-talk and deliver accessible, quality care.
Pets’ Landing brings lifesaving veterinary care to the heart of Skid Row and the Westside. These quarterly events provide a welcoming space for pets and are open to all members of the community and their furry friends, ensuring no pet or person is left without care.
During the eight months when there is no pet clinic, we offer a plentiful inventory of dog and cat food, supplies and gear at the Skid Row location, so no client runs out of food.ll potential and lead fulfilling lives.
As TPC continues to grow and welcome people with pets in its facilities, the Pets’ Landing team offers mobile veterinary services at agency locations where there are 20 or more pets, with the understanding that many clients are homebound and not able to travel to the Skid Row and Westside Clinics. In 2024, the Pets’ Landing team visited 12 locations, twice a year, to bring veterinary and health services to Interim and Permanent Supportive Housing sites across Los Angeles County.
For sick or injured pets, case managers can fill out a Medical Request Form and make an appointment in the hopes that the clients’ pets can get immediate treatment and medications as needed, covered by k9 connection | Pets’ Landing. There are three partner hospitals across the LA region. Likewise, case managers can fill out the Supply Request Form and order food and other items (bowls, blankets, beds, water bowls, poop bags, cat boxes and litter, crates, treats and toys) for their clients, available for pick up at TPC headquarters. The Pets’ Landing Team always makes sure the drop-in centers like the Annenberg Access Center in Santa Monica and the Wellness Center in Skid Row are well stocked.
A well-trained pet can make all the difference in creating harmony and a place where people can thrive. Our k9 team has expanded to offer free obedience training for dogs. We can assist with a wide range of issues, including socialization, leash training, and separation anxiety.
Our obedience training promotes better relationships between pets and owners while fostering a peaceful coexistence with other residents.
We also try to secure fosters to take care of clients’ pets while they’re in the hospital or undergoing rehabilitation treatment, however, it is challenging to find volunteers when we don’t know exactly how long the foster term will be. We’ve been more successful rehoming pets (often within TPC community) when an owner can no longer care for their pet. We also cover euthanizing as well as cremation of a pet when the time comes.
